We are in the process of changing our way of receiving payments, in order to reduce cash handling. 

Kindo Payment System

This will make school payments quick, easy and hassle free.  Kindo is a software solution that enables you to make all your child's' payments online:  from sports subs and trips to donations and lunches.  Permission slips will also be able to be accessed online - so there's no paper and no cash. 

Kindo has the following benefits:

*  Reduced money handling time for teachers 

*  Reduced risks around handling cash 

*  Significant reductions in paper / photocopier use.

*  Easy online payment options for parents.

Kindo, is part of the EZlunch group.  If you are registered with EZlunch, you are already registered with Kindo.

Enrolment Scheme Amendment

The Kowhai Intermediate Board of Trustees is in the process of amending its enrolment scheme as directed by the Ministry of Education Under section 11M(1) of the Education Act 1989. 

To avoid overcrowding it is proposed the zone will be amended to exclude the Unitech area. The map and description is below.

Members of the community are invited to make comment regarding this proposed amendment in writing to:  The Board of Trustees, Kowhai Intermediate, 26 Onslow Road, Mt Eden, Auckland 1024, closing 1 month from the date of this notice.(Date when closing needs to be included)

It is time for families with year 8 students to start considering which high school they would like to attend. Please visit our 'High School Enrolment' page for more information - we will update it if/when we receive information from the high schools but we recommend you visit their respective websites just to make sure you don't miss critical information and dates.

KEEPING UP TO DATE

There are a range of ways the school communicates with the community to keep you up to date with school events. These include:

• Emails from classroom teachers and our school office.
• Event notices and newsletters sent home with students.
• Our school website contains:
• Online calendar - you can add either individual or all events from our school calendar to your personal one.
• List of Notices - we endeavour to make a online copy of all our notices that are sent home available on the school website. These can be found in the Notice database under the Quick Links heading on the right side of this page.
• If a teacher needs to discuss something specific to your child they will usually telephone or email you.

To ensure a safe school environment from Wednesday 1st February our 'Off at the Gate' policy will be implemented.
In summary:

• All student devices must be powered off before coming onto school grounds. No student phones are to be used or accessed at school..
• Phones must be placed in the classroom valuables box at the start of the day. The will be given back just before 3pm.
• Chromebooks may only be used in class with teacher supervision.
• If a student is seen with a device in the playground before or during school it will be stored in the office and a parent must come in to collect it.
