Information and Communication Technologies

Kowhai keeps pace with the constantly expanding opportunities that ICT tools provide. We are closely following the research on student learning through ICT to ensure that learning is enhanced by it.

Students access the learning opportunities of the internet and communications across the globe, engaging in research, data manipulation, interactive learning and multimedia presentations.

Our ICT resources include:

3 to 4 computers in each classroom with internet access.

10 computers as part of the library research station.

A suite with 17 computers for classes to use in support of their classroom programme and inquiry learning studies.

A second computer suite with 20 computers where students are taught by our dedicated ICT teacher as part of the technology rotation.

We ask students and parents and caregivers to agree to our acceptable use guidelines before they are given access to the computers. Students are taught about safe use of the internet and its use is monitored.
